The famous Black Sand Beach Maui, also called Pailoa Beach or Honokalani Beach, is located inside Waianapanapa State Park along the Hana Highway.
Entry to the black sand beach for day visitors is restricted to the hours Waianapanapa State Park is open.
Waianapanapa State Park and Black Sand Beach Maui are open daily for day visits from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Entry to the Maui black sand beach requires reservations and there are four time slots each day from which you can pick, with the first slot starting at 7 a.m.
The last entry slot begins at 3 p.m., and last entry for the day is at 5.30 p.m., but if you do not enter within the first 30 minutes of your time slot, you may be denied access or parking.
